At Say Better, privacy isn't just a feature—it's the foundation of everything we build.

The Short Version

Say Better does not collect any personal data. All text processing happens entirely on your device using Apple's Foundation Models. Your messages, emails, and texts never leave your iPhone. We don't have servers, we don't collect analytics, and we have no ability to see what you type.

Information We Don't Collect

Unlike most apps, we're proud to list what we don't collect:

  • Text content: Your messages, emails, and any text you write or rewrite
  • Usage data: We don't track how often you use the app or which features you use
  • Device information: We don't collect device IDs, IP addresses, or hardware information
  • Location data: We never access your location
  • Contact information: We don't collect names, emails, or phone numbers through the app
  • Advertising identifiers: We don't use advertising SDKs

On-Device Processing

Say Better uses Apple's Foundation Models, which run entirely on your iPhone's Neural Engine. This means:

  • All AI processing happens locally on your device
  • No internet connection is required to rewrite text
  • Your text is never transmitted to any server—ours or anyone else's
  • Even we cannot see what you type

Local Data Storage

Say Better stores a limited amount of data locally on your device:

  • Rewrite history: Your recent rewrites are stored locally so you can access them again. This data never leaves your device and is not synced to any cloud service.
  • Settings preferences: Your app settings (like default tone) are stored locally.
  • Purchase status: Whether you've upgraded to unlimited rewrites is stored locally and managed through Apple's App Store.

You can clear your rewrite history at any time from within the app. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.

Third-Party Services

Say Better does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only external service we interact with is:

  • Apple App Store: For processing in-app purchases. Apple handles all payment information according to their Privacy Policy.

Keyboard Extension Permissions

Say Better operates as a keyboard extension. When you enable the keyboard, iOS asks about "Full Access." Say Better does not request or require Full Access.

Without Full Access, keyboard extensions cannot transmit any data over the network. This is an additional layer of protection that ensures your keystrokes remain private.

Children's Privacy

Say Better does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Since we don't collect any personal information from any users, we comply with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) by design.

Data Security

Since all data remains on your device, your data's security is managed by iOS's built-in protections, including:

  • Device encryption
  • Secure Enclave protection
  • Face ID / Touch ID authentication (if enabled on your device)
  • App sandboxing

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.

Since we don't collect your contact information, we recommend checking this page periodically. Significant changes will also be noted in app update release notes.
